Meet the FOUNDERS

  • Dr. Purnima Madhivanan is a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Arizona's Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and the Founding Director of the Public Health Research Institute of India. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications, her research spans poverty, gender, and health inequities, particularly among women and children in underserved communities worldwide. A recipient of prestigious awards like the Fulbright-Nehru Distinguished Scholar Award, she has led groundbreaking studies supported by major federal and international funding organizations

  • Dr. Karl Krupp was a founding member of PHRII and a widely respected global public health researcher and mentor. An Assistant Professor at the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona, his work advanced understanding of social determinants of health, cervical cancer prevention, vaccine hesitancy, and cardiovascular disease. A recipient of the Global Health Equity Scholars Fellowship, he authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications and secured more than $3 million in research funding. His legacy continues to guide PHRII’s commitment to health equity beyond 2025.
